Celebrating Diversity: Climate Action and Sustainable Development as a Culture

On 8th March 2024, at Kenyatta University’s Amphitheater, flags fluttered in the breeze and borders dissolved as students from Kenyatta University and guests came together to celebrate the International Student Cultural Day 2024, themed “Celebrating Diversity, Strengthening Bonds”. The event was marked with music, exhibitions, traditional dances to mouth-watering delicacies.

In the spirit of promoting green education to combat climate change for foster sustainable development, the Green Education Hub also took part in the event. Through Green Education Student Ambassadors, the hub showcased thought-provoking presentations of creative arts, documentaries and canvas prints. The exhibition offered a glimpse into the myriad ways in which education can promote environmental stewardship.

As the event drew to a close, students and guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in different cultures, learn new languages, and forge lifelong friendships that transcend borders. Through all these, it was clear that climate action and sustainable development is a ‘language and culture’ that should be clear to everyone and education has a role to play in this.
